Getting in shape and losing fat puts stress on your body. And the faster the fat loss the higher the risk of getting sick because of a weakened immune system.
And many people get sick when they are losing weight because their approach isn’t optimized for maximum immunity.
So here is how to avoid getting sick when losing weight:
1. Safeguard your sleep: This is probably one of the most common mistakes people make when they are losing fat. And sleep is the most restorative part of your day. So make sure nothing is interrupting your sleep, including energy drinks.
2. Eat six times a day: Not only is this better for fat loss, but it will prevent you from being in the starved state. And being in the starved state is horrible for your immune system. After all, your body functions best with a steady influx of nutrients.
3. Be mindful of the amount of cardio you do: Too much cardio does more harm than good here. You see, cardio breaks down your body. And weight lifting also breaks down your body. If you combine the two you might not be able to fully recover from exercise.
4. Don’t starve at night: There is nothing wrong with eating right before bed. The key issue here is meal size and composition. You want to have a much smaller meal and try to avoid carbohydrates. If you don’t eat and starve yourself, you are much more likely to get weak.
5. Rest if you feel sick: Don’t work through the sickness here. Rest and let your body recover with its own inbuilt defense mechanisms. After all, once you remove the stress of exercise your body will have many more resources to fight off the invading infection.
6. Eat lots of vegetables: Don’t fall into the trap of taking horse pill sized anti oxidant supplements because you think they will safeguard you. Instead, get your anti oxidants and vitamins from vegetables and other whole foods.
Sickness is a very difficult thing to deal with when you are trying to get in shape. So don’t delay here and start following the advice in this article!
