If your posture is poor, your body will not move the way it’s supposed to. And in extreme cases this can cause your joints to wear out.
Unfortunately, many fitness hopefuls are not doing what’s necessary to fix this.
So here is how to make your posture a little better so you can exercise harder:
1. Use flat soled shoes: Any type of shoe that elevates your heels will make your posture worse. This happens because shoes with heel elevation make your hamstrings tight. And tight hamstrings will place severe limits on the exercises you can do.
2. Don’t sit down for too long: The problem with sitting for extended periods of time is that it puts a lot of pressure on the discs in your lower back. This in turn will accelerate the degeneration of your lower back. So try to avoid the seated position as much as possible.
3. If possible, work from an upright position: This is perhaps one of the simplest things you can do to enhance your posture. It will prevent any hamstring tightness and it will prevent your lower back from degenerating. Even better, you will burn a little more calories.
4. Don’t do too many pushups: Doing endless pushing movements in your workouts is not a good strategy here. You see, pushing will make your front chest muscles very tight which in turn can pull your shoulders forward.
5. Get rid of muscle knots as soon as they appear: The problem with muscle knots is that they can become very troublesome if left untreated. In fact, over long periods of time they can alter the way your muscles move.
6. Avoid looking downwards: Having a downwards slopping line of sight is horrible for your posture. It will give you the classic forward head look. And having your head tilt forward puts more stress on your lower back.
Making your posture as best as can be will really help you take your workouts to the next level. So make sure you take action here now!
