Bruising is something that happens when the blood vessels beneath the surface of the skin break and therefore leak blood into the tissue. This leaking of the blood can cause the tissue to appear reddish in color, and you can get a large patch of discoloration beneath the surface of the skin. This large patch can be joined by high levels of swelling, and can be very painful and uncomfortable. In addition if bruising occurs at one of the joints, or on one of the limbs this can make movement very difficult. So what sort of things could you do to prevent bruising? It becomes pretty clear that you need to try to avoid places where you increase your opportunities to bruise. You should first apply the cold towel for about 3 to 4 minutes, and then apply the hot towel for about 30 to 45 seconds. Repeating this several times is going to really help reduce any pain and swelling.
In very rare cases some people will find that their bruising will persist. As such it is going to be important for you to consult with your doctor as soon as possible to find out the reason for this.
