My daughter is a college freshman and she was overwhelmed by her new surroundings. She reported that she often felt scared to roam about and there are many crimes committed in her campus. She was worried that she may become a victim of these crimes.

“Say,” I asked Geoff, “where can I buy 1/2 oz pepper shot w/auto visor clip?” It was a normal workday in Newark and I was serious when I quipped that another car was most likely being robbed at that exact moment.

I was one of the field workers doing a census on our city. Three times in the past, our field workers were either mauled, or the female ones, molested. After the third untoward incident, management recalled all field workers for a meeting on the safety of this group. I brought up the idea of providing a defense spray to each one of us.

In the neighborhood park, jogging was a safe form of exercise before but no longer. There was construction going on along the runner’s lane. We have heard of women runners being harassed by construction workers.

Living in a place where there is a university is an advantage for me. I do not mind having to walk to and from it because I can use the exercise. I dislike commuting on a daily basis and the cost that goes with it.

The boys in class were discussing their experiences in school, particularly with bullies. Then one of them showed us something that he said helped him put down a bigger boy. He said it is called a Knuckle Blaster Stun Gun.

I never owned any self-defense device in my life and not until I was about to retire did I think about equipping myself with one. I have read the news about the mugging of older persons and it was alarming.

Who does not love to go shopping if your favorite things are readily accessible and at great prices?

“Diversion safes are the best places to store your jewels and other precious items,” my aunt declared. She said that because I told her that I had just lost my gold bracelet in one of my jewelry boxes.
