A farmers’ market is basically a traditional method of vending agricultural and home based products. The specialty of farmers’ market merchandise is that it is grown in the neighborhood, and hence is very fresh and is packed with vitamins and minerals. In addition to fresh vegetables and fruits, farmers’ markets also provide customers with honey, seedlings, heritage breeds of meat and fowl, heirloom goods and other agricultural commodities. The produce found in farmers market are much healthier in comparison to those found in superstores which are usually harvested long before they are ripe to assist in storing and transportation. They are then subjected to chemical treatment to encourage ripening before reaching the shelves of traditional and super markets. Farmers’ market commodities however needs a longer time to mature, and is therefore more healthful, succulent and superior than the products found in supermarkets. In fact, this produce is so fresh; it is harvested the on the previous day, or sometimes on the early morning of the market. What’s more, as there is no time wasted in transit, a greater part of the nutritional content is conserved.
