Hyaluronic Acid Filler Injections: Captique

[I:http://www.naturmeds.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/MelvynMason45.jpg]A new Hyaluronic Acid filler injection recently on the cosmetic medical market is marketed under the name ‘Captique’. As with other Hyaluronic acid injections Captique treats lines around the eyes, nose and lips.

Captique works by attracting and binding the body’s moisture to the area to increase the support system under the skin. This in turn stretches the skin smooth giving the face a plump finish.

Allergy tests before treatment are not necessary. Captique is a gel whose main ingredient is NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic acid).

Captique injections will be almost identical to the other Hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane, Juvaderm). A consultation and medical history will be taken by the medical provider and the treatment area will be defined. Patients will then be informed of any medications that could cause complications with the injection process. If there are concerns, patients will be advised to forgo use until the treatment is finished.

The day of the procedure, the treatment area will be cleansed and all makeup removed. A topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment to minimize any pain during the treatment. The physician or medical provider will then inject small amounts of Captique using an ultra fine needle.

Before the treatment is finished the patient should be informed of any short term affects including, erythema (redness), irritations, bumps (inflammation) at the injection site.

Captique injections last anywhere from 6-12 months with touch-ups for best results. The following are Captique contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to NASHA or of it’s ingredients Hypertrophic scarring propensity Skin pigmentation medical disorders Susceptibility to keloid formations (scars) Captique has not been tested on patients under the age of 18 or in women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
