PCOS is an endocrine disorder that causes small cysts to develop on the female ovaries. PCOS is not something that women are born with, however, it has been researched to be a genetically-linked hormonal imbalance which can develop and begin showing signs right around the onset of adolescence or puberty. Most women with PCOS experience the same tell-tale signs such as ovulation imbalances. Many women with this disorder can even go months without ovulating. In order to get pregnant, ovulation is crucial and this is why it is sometimes difficult for women with PCOS to achieve pregnancy. In addition to having cycles without ovulation, woman suffering from PCOS usually have poor egg quality as well due menstrual cycles being spaced too far apart from one another.
